Bataille Picks Up Third OAC Weekly Honor

Sophomore sprinter Judy Bataille (Felicity, Ohio / Felicity-Franklin) of the Heidelberg College women’s track and field team picked up her third Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Runner of the Week honor following her performance at the 2008 All-Ohio Championships.

Bataille was selected as the runner of the week for the week of Feb. 18, 2008 following earning three first place finishes over the weekend.

Bataille’s first appearance at the All-Ohio Championships began with provisional-qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships in the 55-meter dash. She ran a 7.22 in the prelims, only to return in the finals to shatter her own school record and automatically qualify for nationals with a time of 7.12. Her time also set a new meet record as well and currently leads the nation. It was the third time this season that Bataille has topped the 55-meter school record.

Not to be outdone, Bataille teamed up with Angela Zellner (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg), Catie Evers (Burketsville, Ohio / Saint Henry) and Colleen Nitchman (Wakeman, Ohio / Western Reserve) to win the 4x200-meter relay in a new school record and meet record time of 1:45.55. It is the second time this season that the quartet has set a new ’Berg record in the event. The quartet also teamed up to win the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:08.31.
