'Berg Ends Regular Season at Mount Union

The Heidelberg College indoor track and field team wrapped up its regular season at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet on Saturday. Though no team score was kept, individual competitors for the Berg faired well in their respective events.

Sprinter Jocelyn Hughes (Oberlin, Ohio / Oberlin) led the way for the women, snagging two second place finishes in the 300- and 400-meter dashes, 44.69 and 1:03.32 respectively, while Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) won third place in the 55-dash in a time of 7.68. Caitlyn Bromley (Stow, Ohio / Stow Monroe) and Kelsey Elliott (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Gladorf) finished in second and third places in the 800-meter run. Bromley ran the race in 2:28.23, while Elliott completed it in 2:29 flat.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Rachel Hill (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) finished third in a new school record time of 9.08, followed by Paige Reiman (Defiance, Ohio / Tinora) in fifth (9.38). The field events saw Megan Richardson (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) earn a fourth place mark in the shot put (32’7”), meanwhile Jenna Brook (Galion, Ohio / Northmor) grabbed fifth (31’11.5”). Lastly for the women, Kaylee Robertson (Middleburg Heights, Ohio / Midpark) finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 37’6”.

For the men, Jake Lemon (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor) and John Distler (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) took third in their events; Lemon in the mile run (4:35.12) and Distler in the 1000-meter run (2:40.49). Tyson Brown (Van Wert, Ohio / Van Wert) grabbed fourth in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.67.

In the field events, Adam Bumb (Alvada, Ohio / New Riegel) earned a second place award for the long jump (20’7.75”) and came in fourth in the triple jump (40’7.75”). Mike Fallon (Silver Lake, Ohio / Cuyahoga Falls) also won a second place spot for the weight throw with a distance of 33’9”.

Heidelberg competes next at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in Westerville, Ohio on March 7-8.
