Bataille to Represent Heidelberg at NCAA Indoor National Championships

Heading into her first season with the Heidelberg College women’s track and field team, sophomore sprinter Judy Bataille (Felicity, Ohio / Felicity-Franklin) was open-minded as to what the track would have in store for her. In just her first outing, the track quickly agreed to Bataille’s speed and a NCAA Division III National Championship participant was established.

In her first 55-meter dash of the year, Bataille set a new Heidelberg record at 7.25 and provisionally qualified for the national meet. Through out the winter, she reestablished her own school record twice and tied it once. Heading into nationals, Bataille has run the 55-meter dash in 7.12, which also set a new Ohio Athletic Conference record on March 8.

The NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships will be held March 14-15 in Ada, Ohio. Ohio Northern University will serve as championship host. Preliminaries for the 55-meter dash are scheduled for 6:35 p.m. on Friday, March 14, with the finals set for 3:45 p.m. Saturday, March 15.

Aside from her trip to the national meet this indoor season, Bataille garnered four OAC Runner of the Week honors and capped off her first indoor season in the OAC as being tabbed the Fred Raizk Sprinter of the Meet at the OAC Championships. Bataille won the 55 and 300-meter dashes, while claiming a third championship as a member of the 4x200-meter relay team. Along the way she earned All-OAC recognition in all three events.

Within the Heidelberg record book, Bataille also set a new record in the 300-meter dash (41.94), the 200-meter dash (25.73), as well as a leg of the 4x200-meter relay team (1:45.55) and the 4x400-meter relay team (4:01.06).
