Alliance, Ohio – April 30, 2010 – Freshman Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) of the Heidelberg University women’s track and field team set personal best marks every time she left the runway in the preliminary round of the long jump competition at the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships and in the end found her named inked on the provisional list for the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
Bevington’s leap of 18’3” was also good enough for a runner-up finish at the OAC Championships and earned her all-conference honors. She returned later in the day and secured a spot in the 100-meter hurdle finals set for tomorrow. In the hurdles she ran a 15.91 to stand fifth in the final heat.
Also securing a spot in the finals on the track was Alexis Goodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbians). Goodman will represent the Berg in the 100-meter dash. In the prelims she crossed the finish line in 13.04, which is sixth.
In the 400-meter dash, Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) and Lauren Bruynis (Upper Sandusky, Ohio / Upper Sandusky) have qualified for the finals. Depinet ran a 59.62 in the prelims to rank third, while Bruynis finished in 1:02.47, which is eighth.
The championship concludes, Saturday, May 1. Field events begin at 10:00 a.m. The Berg will look to add to its nine points from Bevington in the long jump on day two of the championships.
