Naperville, Ill. - May 21, 2010 - Continuing to make a name for herself and the Heidelberg University women's track and field team is Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway). Just a freshman, Bevington has saved her best leaps for late in the season.
Over the couse of her last four outings, Bevington has steadily improved on her marks in the long jump and most recently changed her provisional qualifying leap of 18'10.5 into an automatic spot on the list for nationals.
At the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College May 20-21, she took home the long jump championship with a jump of 19'2.5". Bevington took home the championship over runner-up Melissa Norville's leap of 19'0.75". Her mark was an automatic leap for nationals and currently is tied for the fifth best jump in the nation.
Bevington will look to continue to distance herself from the board and the field next week when she competes at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
