Delaware, Ohio – May 26, 2011 – Sophomore Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) closed out her second year on the Heidelberg University women’s track and field team with a spot at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Bevington qualified for nationals in the long jump for the second straight season. She battled through rain and lightening to take part in the competition. In the end she leaped 17’4.25” to finish 17th.
Her trip to nationals capped off a stellar year on both the indoor and outdoor tracks for the Berg. Bevington claimed outdoor All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in the long jump, triple jump, 100-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay. She took home the championship in the long jump. It was the second straight all-league honor in the long jump for Bevington.
On the indoor track, Bevington was equally impressive. She was just the fifth national qualifier after earning a spot on the long jump list. At the OAC Championships she earned all-league honors in the long jump, triple jump and 55-meter hurdles. She leaped to the conference title in the long jump.
In the fall, Bevington finished her second year as the starting middle hitter on the volleyball team. In 2010 the Berg claimed both the OAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. She was named to the All-OAC Team and the All-Great Lakes Region Team.
