BEREA, Ohio—Junior Marian Bevington (Celina/Parkway) won the women’s long jump tonight to highlight performances by the Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track & field teams and the Ohio Athletic Conference North Split Meet hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College at the Harrison Dillard Track in Berea, Ohio. Both teams placed with, with the men totaling 90 points and the women tallying 42.
The University of Mount Union led the men’s field with 201.16 points, followed by Ohio Northern University (188), Baldwin-Wallace (133.33), John Carroll University (103.50) and Heidelberg.
B-W won the women’s team title with 218 points, followed by Mount Union (189.50), ONU (117.50), JCU (115) and Heidelberg.
Bevington claimed the long jump title with a leap of 16-6.50 to highlight women’s action for Heidelberg.
Junior Shondell Thomas (Westerville/South) and senior Jacob Hoffman (Shelby) highlighted men’s action with third-place showings in the 800-meter run (2:02.85) and one-mile run (4:31.96), respectively.
Senior Joe Yoder (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) advanced past the 55-meter hurdle prelims to finish in third place in the finals with a 7.91 showing.
In the jumps, freshman Austin Bentz (Tiffin/Columbian) came in third in the long jump with a leap of 20-9.00 and sophomore Jamil Boldian (Chicago, Ill./Urban Youth) came in fourth in the triple jump with a 40-4.75 jump.
Sophomore Cartel Brooks (Kokomo, Ind./Galion) and junior Gibril Kamara (Westerville/Central) each advanced past the 55-meter dash prelims and placed third (6.61) and fifth (6.63), respectively, in the finals.
Brooks also clocked a 23.29 in the 200-meter dash to finish in fifth, just behind junior Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek), who placed second in 23.01. Hendricks also showed in third in the 400-meter dash with a 50.44 clocking.
Senior John Gogle (Sunbury/Big Walnut) clocked 15:51.65 in the 5,000-meter run and came in fourth.
In other women’s action, sophomore Sophie Goobic (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) (5:32.73) and senior Lilly Hansberger (Norwalk/Western Reserve) (1:04.33) each placed third in the one-mile run and 400-meter dash, respectively.
Freshman Caddie Orr (East Liberty/Benjamin Logan) advanced past the 55-meter hurdle preliminaries and came in fifth place in the finals in 9.57.
The ‘Berg returns to action Saturday, Feb. 4 when it competed at the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by ONU in Ada.
