TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet, hosted by Wilmington College, at Beckett Track in Wilmington, Ohio. The first gun is scheduled to go off at noon.
Live results for the meet will be available here.
Both teams are coming off notable performances at last weekend’s Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology Early Bird Meet. Junior Nate Davis (Dayton/Stivers) won both the high jump and long jump and junior Marian Bevington (Celina/Parkway) claimed first place in the javelin and long jump and broke the facility record in the 100-meter hurdles. Both were named OAC field performer of the week.
Senior Joe Yoder (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) (400-meter hurdles) and juniors Josh Lynch (Dayton/Meadowdale) (triple jump), Wes Hendricks (Beavercreek) (200-meter dash, 400-meter dash) and Shondell Thomas (Westerville/South) (800-meter run) also won men’s events, while seniors Aaliyah VanLeer (Cleveland Heights) (shot put) and Jazmine Shaw (Columbus/Hamilton Township) (400-meter dash) claimed first place in women’s action.
Nationally, four men and two women hold top-20 marks. Davis’ 6-8.75 in the high jump ranks third nationally, Yoder’s 400-meter hurdle time of 53.83 is third, Lynch’s 47-7.75 in the triple jump, which broke a school record earlier this season, is fourth, and Hendricks’ 49.17 in the 400-meter dash stands 14th. In addition, the 4-by-400-meter relay team of Yoder, freshman Austin Bentz (Tiffin/Columbian), Thomas and Hendricks is eighth nationally with a 3:20.03.
Bevington’s marks of 17-6.25 in the long jump and 15.39 in the 100-meter hurdles are 10th and 17th, respectively, while Shaw’s 58.95 in the 400-mer dash is 14th.
Following the OAC Split Meet, both the teams will compete Saturday, April 7 at the Marve Frye Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.
