NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s track & field teams closed the regular season today at the Gregory Invitational, hosted by North Central College, in Naperville, Ill. and four qualified for next weekend’s 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Claremont, Calif. The meet was unscored.
Junior Josh Lynch (Dayton/Meadowdale) highlighted men’s action with a 48-2.75 mark in the triple jump, landing him in second place.
Freshman Austin Bentz (Tiffin/Columbian) came in 10th-place in the long jump with a mark of 21-11.75 and sophomore Brett Pickens (New London/Western Reserve) heaved the javelin 164-10.00 to come in 11th.
In women’s action, junior Marian Bevington (Celina/Parkway) clocked 14.62 in the 100-meter hurdles and recorded a mark of 19-0.00 in the long jump, placing second in each event, while senior Jazmine Shaw (Columbus/Hamilton Township) placed third in the 400-meter dash in 57.64.
Senior Joe Yoder (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem), juniors Nate Davis (Dayton/Stivers) and Lynch, and Bevington will each compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Claremont, Calif. on May 24-26. Yoder will compete in the 400-meter hurdles, while Davis and Lynch will compete in the high jump and triple jump, respectively. Bevington will run the 100-meter hurdles and compete in the long jump.
