Volleyball Team Earns National Academic Recognition

Not only did the Heidelberg College volleyball team succeed on the court in 2007, but it followed through in the classroom as well. For the second-straight season the volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. Heidelberg is one of 353 teams that earned the honor overall and is one of 62 NCAA Division III teams recognized.

The award was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year and it honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Heidelberg, under the guidance of the 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Jason Miller, concluded the year with an overall record of 27-11 and a 7-2 mark in the OAC. The 27 wins by the Berg ties for the most in the history of the program. The Berg went on to take home runner-up honors at the OAC Tournament and eventually earned an at-large bid to the Division III National Championships.
