Hurlburt Receives OAC Weekly Award
Junior middle hitter Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary’s, Ohio / Memorial) of the Heidelberg College volleyball team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 17, 2007. It is Hurlburt’s first player of the week honor of her career.
In 3-0 week for Heidelberg, Hurlburt led the way with a team-high 26 kills and a .490 attack percentage, while standing second with seven blocks.
On Tuesday, in a 3-0 (30-9, 30-16, 30-27) win at Defiance College, Hurlburt finished with nine kills in 11 attempts, with no errors in just two games. At the net, Hurlburt turned away three Yellow Jacket kills attempts.
Over the weekend, in a tri-match with Marietta College and Bluffton University, Hurlburt finished with 17 kills and four blocks. Against Marietta, she picked up 11 kills, marking her sixth double-digit kill outing on the year.
For the year, Hurlburt leads Heidelberg with a .421 attack percentage and ranks second in kills (109) and blocks (29). She has also tallied 24 digs and seven service aces on the year.
Heidelberg currently boasts on overall record of 10-1 on the year and is riding a 10-match winning streak heading into its OAC match at Wilmington Sept. 18.
