Winning Streak Continues for Heidelberg Volleyball
The women of the Heidelberg College volleyball team are on an eleven game winning streak high after defeating Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Wilmington College 3-0. The women, led by eighth-year head coach Jason Miller, beat the Quakers by the scores of 30-17, 30-24, and 30-22 for the sweep.
Leading the Tricolor offensively were Whitney Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) and Kendra Orwig (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta) with three service aces each. Orwig, the team’s starting libero, also led the way defensively with 23 digs.
Helping them at the net was Audra Vucic (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic) who led the team with 10 kills off 24 attempts. Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary's, Ohio / Memorial), the current OAC Player of the Week, along with Laurie Patrick (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue), and Katie Jones (Akron, Ohio / Green) each managed eight kills on the night. Hurlburt also led the team in blocking, with one solo and three double blocks.
Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) had an excellent night in the setter position, posting 42 assists and nine digs for the evening.
The Berg returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the Emory University National Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
