Heidelberg Goes 2-2 at Fall Classic

The Heidelberg College volleyball team went 2-2 at the Mount St. Joseph Fall Classic in Cincinnati placing their record at 17-4 for the year. The team beat Mount St. Joseph College (30-22, 18-30, 30-25, 30-22) and Anderson College (30-20, 28-30, 31-29, 30-17)) on the first day of play, but lost to Ohio Athletic Conference opponents Ohio Northern University (30-27, 30-25, 30-21) and Baldwin-Wallace College (27-30, 34-32, 21-30, 23-30) on the second day of the tournament.

Laurie Patrick (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) and Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary's, Ohio / Memorial) led the team the first day with 23 kills each, while Hurlburt led the second day with a total of 22 kills. Both players also recorded five blocks each in the first two games.

Kendra Orwig (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta) led the team defensively for the weekend, recording a cumulative total of 113 digs. Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) also contributed with 151 assists for the weekend.

The team returns to action at home on Tuesday Oct. 2 against Baldwin-Wallace at 7:00p.m.
