'Berg Goes 1-1 at Wooster

Denison proved an easy win for the Heidelberg College volleyball team, but the Fighting Scots of Wooster refused to be taken so lightly. The women beat the Big Red in three straight games (30-18, 30-23, 30-23), but fell to the Scots 3-2 (30-16, 28-30, 30-24, 18-30, 10-15).

Against Denison, seniors Whitney Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) and Audra Vucic (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic) led at the net with 10 and nine kills each, with sophomore Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) posting 32 assists. While, fellow senior Kendra Orwig (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta) dominated the defense with 16 digs. Orwig and Whitney Magers also led the offense, as Orwig recorded three service aces and Magers had two.

The hard fought matches against Wooster ended with seniors Laurie Patrick (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) and Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary's, Ohio / Memorial) each in the double-digits with 12 kills apiece. Morgan Magers had a day-high 50 assists, and Orwig again led the defense with 27 digs.

The Berg returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 9 at home against Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll, play begins at 7:00 p.m.
