Ruffing Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff
Ninth year head volleyball coach Jason Miller has announced that Bellevue native and Tiffin University graduate Kiara Ruffing has been added to the Heidelberg College coaching staff. Ruffing with serve as the setters coach and recruiting coordinator.

“I have known Kiara since she was in high school and I have watched her develop into a wonderful player,” stated Miller. “I am excited to have her on my staff. She will do a great job in developing our setters and controlling our offense, all while bringing added enthusiasm to the program.”
Ruffing, a 2008 TU graduate with a degree in business, sports management and hospitality, will make the transition from student-athlete to coach with a team that is coming off one of its most successful seasons in the program’s history. A year ago, Heidelberg finished at 27-11 overall, tying the single-season record for wins. Prior to 2007, the Berg had not won a postseason match, but opened up the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament with a 3-1 quarterfinal win over Muskingum College and went on to finish runner-up. For their efforts, Heidelberg earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
A four-year letter winner at Tiffin, Ruffing handled the Dragon offense. As a junior, Ruffing helped to guide TU to a record-setting 35-10 season and a berth in the American Mideast Conference Tournament and the NAIA Playoffs.
Ruffing attended nearby Seneca East High School and earned four varsity letters for the Tigers. She was a three-time All-Midland Athletic League honoree, garnering first team accolades as a senior. Ruffing was selected to the District 6 Honorable Mention team as a junior and the second team in her senior campaign. She picked up Seneca East Co-Most Valuable Player honors in her final season.
