Volleyball Picked Fourth in OAC Preseason Poll
The Heidelberg College volleyball team was voted to finish fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference in a preseason poll by league head coaches.
The defending regular season and tournament champion Ohio Northern University sat at the top and received nine first-place votes, while Mount Union College was voted second. Ranked third and receiving one first-place vote was Capital University. Following Heidelberg is Muskingum College in fifth. Baldwin-Wallace College stands in sixth and John Carroll University was voted seventh. Rounding out the preseason poll is Otterbein College, Marietta College and Wilmington College.
Heidelberg will look to continue to build off one of its most successful seasons in the history of the program. In 2007 Heidelberg finished at 27-11 overall and stood third in the final league standings at 7-2. The Berg went on to finish runner-up in the OAC Tournament and earned its first trip to the NCAA Championships.
Heidelberg, under the guidance of the reigning OAC Coach of the Year Jason Miller, returns All-OAC performers Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary’s, Ohio / Memorial) and Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort), as well as starters Audra Vucic (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic), Kelsey Elliott (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Glandorf)and Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted).
The season begins at the Capital Invitational Aug. 29-30. Conference actions begins with Mount Union Sept. 17 in Seiberling Gymnasium.
