Hurlburt Eclipses 1,000 Career Kills

Senior middle hitter Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary's, Ohio / Memorial) tallied 26 kills in a tri-match today at Heidelberg College to become just the fourth player in the history of the program to ecelipse 1,000 kills. Paced by the efforts of Hurlburt the Heidelberg volleyball team rebounded after a loss to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Ohio Northern University on Tuesday night by sweeping OAC opponent Wilmington College 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-14) and defeating Case Western Reserve University 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24) during a tri-match between the three schools in Seiberling Gymnasium.        
 
Hurlburt picked up 10 kills against Wilmington and finished with 16 kills against Case Western Rerseve to sit at 1,0006 career kills which ranks her fourth in the record book. She picked up her 1,000 kill midway through set two against Case Western.
 
Heidelberg’s tri-match sweep improves the Berg to 21-4 on the year, marking the third-straight 20-win season, along with extended its home winning streak to 13 matches.
 
Against Wilmington, Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg)  joined Hurlburt with 10 kills. Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) dished out 34 assists and Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) picked up 18 digs. Behind the line, Natalie Beck (Monroeville, Ohio / Monroeville) led the team with four service aces.
 
During the team’s win over Case, aside from Hurlburt’s 16 kills, Audra Vucic (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic) had 10 kills, while Magers racked up 46 assists. Donelan and Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) recorded 27 digs apiece, with Reinhart and Haase tying for a team-high three service aces.
 
Heidelberg returns to action on Tuesday, October 14, at Baldwin-Wallace College. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
