Heidelberg Splits Tri-Match at Wooster

The Heidelberg College volleyball team, under the guidance of head coach Jason Miller, took a break from Ohio Athletic Conference action over the weekend with a tri-match at the College of Wooster. The Berg opened the day up against nationally-ranked Wittenberg University before facing host Wooster.
 
Heidelberg took set one, 25-17, over Wittenberg but could not pull out the win, dropping sets two, three and four (25-23, 25-19, 25-23). Against Wooster, the Scots and ’Berg battled back and forth in set one with the Scots coming out on top 29-27. Heidelberg rebounded with three-straight set wins (25-13, 25-15, 25-14) to take the 3-1 win. Heidelberg currently stands at 23-5 on the year.
 
Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary’s, Ohio / Memorial) and Amanda Atchison (Frankfort, Ohio / Frankfort Adena) paced the Berg offense against Wittenberg. Hurlburt picked up 15 kills in 25 attempts with one error for a .569 attack percentage, while Atchison added 11 kills. Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) dished out 39 assists and added nine digs and four kills.
 
Leading the back row was Bittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) with 20 digs. Rounding out four with double-figure digs was Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) with 16 followed by Suzy Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) (11) and Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) (10).
 
Haase and Atchison had career outings against Wooster. Haase put down a career-high 17 kills in 26 attempts with just one error for a career-best .615 attack percentage. The freshman outside hitter picked up a double-double with 10 digs. Atchsion backed Haase with a career-high 15 kills, to go along with four blocks. Magers once again controlled the offense, finishing with 52 assists and had 18 digs for a double-double.  Donelan had a team-best 30 digs and Reinhart added 18.
