‘Berg Wins 10th Straight
Wilmington, Ohio – September 22, 2009 – The Heidelberg University volleyball team won its 10th-straight match following a 3-1 (25-10, 25-16, 22-25, 25-15) victory over host Wilmington College. The game marked the Berg’s first Ohio Athletic Conference match for the 2009 season. The victory extends Heidelberg’s overall record to 13-2, 1-0 in the OAC, while the Quakers fall to 1-5, 0-1 in the OAC.
Pacing the Berg’s attack game was Jackie Reinhart (New Reigel, Ohio / New Reigel). Reinhart led the Berg with 12 kills, in 18 attempts which calculate to an impressive team-high .611 attack percentage. In 15 matches thus far, Reinhart had recorded double-digit kills in five outings.
Backing Reinhart was Amanda Atchison (Frankfort, Ohio / Frankfort Adena) and Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) with 10 kills apiece. Haase also added six more points off of service aces. For the year she leads the way with 49. As a team, Heidelberg has 141 service aces.
Controlling the offense was All-American setter Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort). Magers dished out 38 assists, to go along with one dig and two kills.
Defensively, the back row was led by Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted). Donelan had a team-high 11 digs followed by Haase with 10, and Reinhart with seven.
