Street Tabbed OAC Player of the Week
Austintown, Ohio – October 26, 2009 – Freshman middle hitter Jacki Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) of the Heidelberg University volleyball team has been tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 26, 2009. Street is the second ’Berg player to be honored this season, joining junior Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg).
Street helped lead no. 17 ranked Heidelberg to a 3-1 record last week. In four outings, Street registered a team-leading 51 kills and a .537 attack percentage, to go along with 11 digs, seven blocks and four assists.
The week began with a sweep (25-10, 25-18, 25-17) over host John Carroll on Tuesday. Street finished with 13 kills in 16 attempts with just one error for a .750 attack percentage. She also added a block assist.
Over the weekend, Heidelberg went 2-1 at the Heidelberg Quad. Street paced the Berg in a 3-2 (11-25, 25-19, 17-25, 27-25, 15-10) victory over no. 7 Wittenberg University on Friday. She had 13 kills and hit .440.
On Saturday, Heidelberg topped Webster University 3-1 (23-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-14). Street continued her dominance up front and finished with 13 kills once more. She added two bocks and two digs.
The weekend closed with a 3-0 (24-26, 25-22, 22-25) setback to no. 9 Carthage College. Street tallied 12 kills in 19 attempts with one error for a .579 attack percentage. She also registered five digs and two blocks.
Heidelberg stands at 24-5 overall and will look to claim the program’s second OAC Regular Season Title this week. The Berg currently stands at 7-0 in the league and face Otterbein College (Oct. 27) and Mount Union College (Oct. 31) to close out its conference slate.
