‘Berg Victorious in OAC Semifinals

Tiffin, Ohio – November 6, 2009 – In the OAC Tournament Semifinals, the Heidelberg University volleyball team was victorious over Otterbein College with a score of 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-15). The win clinches the OAC’s NCAA automatic bid for the Berg, marking its third-straight year competing in the NCAA Tournament. 
 
No. 19 nationally ranked Heidelberg improves to 27-6 overall while Otterbein finishes its season at 24-9.

Heidelberg’s attack game was led by Amanda Atchison (Frankfort, Ohio / Frankfort) with a game-high 15 kills. Backing Atchison was Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) with 12 kills. Jackie Reinhart (New Reigel, Ohio / New Reigel) contributed with nine kills along with 16 digs.
 
Taking charge on offense was All-American setter Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort). Magers dished out 46 assists, to go along with four digs and six kills.
 
Defensively, the back row was led by Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted). Donelan had a game-high 25 digs. Also making an impact was Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) with 12 digs on the night.
 
The Berg will face no. 6 Ohio Northern University (27-3 overall) in OAC Finals match tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in Seiberling Gymnasium. The match will be the third-straight year that the Berg and the Polar Bears face off for possession of the OAC Tournament title where ONU are 2-0 in the previous two meetings.
