Heidelberg Symphonic Band

December 1, 2012 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Brenneman Ohl Concert Hall

Did you know that Giuseppe Verdi wrote for Symphonic Band? How about Bedrich Smetana? Joaquin Turina? Well, not exactly. The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. John E. Owen will present a theme program that centers on "borrowed music," classics that have been transcribed for the instrumental resources of the modern band ensemble. Enjoy transcriptions created by Alfred Reed, Clark McAlister and Kenneth Singleton, based on the music of the composers listed above. And if you are in the need of some seasonal music, the Heidelberg Chamber Winds will chip in with some Christmas tunes!
