Spaces are beginning to be defined as work on the new Adams Hall progresses on schedule. Crews with general contractor Thomas & Marker Construction continue to transform the former Laird Hall into a state-of-the art facility that will become home to the School of Business. Since our last tour before Christmas, the most visible changes are the steel beams and insulation that have been installed throughout the facility.
The fourth floor will house a video conference room, a main lounge with skylight and a large classroom with “breakout” areas for student to work on projects. Faculty offices, each with a window and divided by an administrative suite, are taking shape on the third floor. Large classrooms are being constructed on the second floor with an open air lobby between them. Additional classrooms will be located on the first level along with an entry to Bareis Hall; however, the former glass connector hallway between the two buildings has been removed.
Rod Morrison, associate vice president for facilities and engineering, said that despite a few minor obstacles related to the age of the structure, the work crews are still on schedule to have major construction completed by May 25, leaving plenty of time for finishing work and move-in.
