Congratulations, Graduates!

You have worked hard, and commencement is within your reach. There will be many activities to commemorate this occasion, and much information to share with you and your families so that you can fully participate in all the events. Please consider this page an important resource. If you should have further questions you may direct them to commencement-questions@heidelberg.edu.

Dates

Rehearsal for Undergraduate Commencement will be Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11 a.m.

The Graduate Programs Hooding and Commencement Ceremony will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 4 pm.

The Undergraduate Medals Ceremony will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at  7:30 p.m.

The Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 2 pm.

Speakers

It has been a long-standing Heidelberg tradition for a graduating senior to speak at the spring Student Awards Celebration. For the past fourteen  years a senior also gave brief remarks at Commencement.

The speech during Student Awards Celebration, held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 4:00 p.m., in Seiberling is to be 5-7 minutes. The senior class will be involved in the selection process.

The Commencement remarks are to be 5-7 minutes. The Commencement Speaker Committee will select the finalists and listen to them present their speeches to determine the speaker.

Tickets

Each undergraduate participating in the commencement ceremony will receive six tickets.  Commencement tickets may be picked up in the Business Office beginning April 23rd.  No one will be admitted to Commencement without a ticket.  Questions concerning commencement should be directed to commencement-questions@heidelberg.edu.

Special Seating Requests

If there is a member of your family, who because of health reasons, cannot sit in bleachers, please notify Ms. Barb Gabel by calling 419-448-2183, or the Academic Affairs Office, by calling 419-448-2216. There will be a seat reserved for this person and an escort in the seating on the gym floor. It is the responsibility of the graduate to make this reservation by Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

In addition, if one of your guests requires the use of a wheelchair/scooter, space will be provided in the seating on the gym floor for the wheelchair/scooter and an escort if you inform Barb Gabel. It is the responsibility of the graduate to make this reservation by Tuesday, May 1st.

Guests with health concerns or in a wheelchair should be driven to the small parking lot next to Seiberling Gymnasium. A Student Ambassador will escort the person into the Seiberling lobby. Guests with Special Seating tickets will be admitted to the gymnasium at 1:15 p.m.
