Meet the Faculty

Welcome to the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Heidelberg College. The department offers undergraduate majors in both religion and philosophy.

Courses in religion are designed to help all students gain a mature understanding of religion and appreciate the importance of values, meaning, and faith as integral parts of human life. Courses in religion are designed to provide undergraduate preparation for students who wish to continue their study in a theological seminary or graduate school.

Courses in philosophy are useful in careers such as law, business, social work, science, teaching, religion, and art. Students may elect courses that relate to specific careers such as PHI 317 (philosophy of religion) for pre-ministerial students of PHI 309, 310 (history of western philosophy) for those majoring in history and social science areas.
