Dr. David Bush, professor of anthropology

Dr. David Bush’s hands are almost always dirty. That’s because this professor of anthropology – if he’s not in his classroom or lab – can most often be found doing archaeological research at one of Ohio’s most historically significant locations: Johnson’s Island. Johnson’s Island is the site of a Civil War military prison, and Dr. Bush has spent 20 years researching everything from the lives of the soldiers to artifacts they left behind. Students and the community have become part of this exploration into history as well, traveling with him to Johnson’s Island to get their hands dirty as well.
