Soprano recital to explore ups, downs of courtship

Carol DusdiekerSoprano Carol Dusdieker, who joined the Heidelberg University faculty full time this year, will perform a recital, titled “Portraits of Love” at 7 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 28) in Ohl Concert Hall. Accompanying her will be Thaddeus Archer on trumpet and I-Chen Yeh on piano.

Dusdieker explained that the recital will take the audience on a journey through the joys and trials of courtship with pieces by composers Alessandro Scarlatti, Luigi Arditi, Edvard Grieg, Hugo Wolf and Amy Beach.

As assistant professor of voice at Heidelberg, Dusdieker received her doctorate and master’s degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Dusdieker has performed with operas and symphonies around the United States, such as Opera Cleveland, Des Moines Metro, Glimmerglass Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, Toledo Symphony, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Windsor Chamber Orchestra. She also performs annually in the Heidelberg New Music Festival.

The recital is free and open to the public.
