Heidelberg University celebrated the academic, athletic, service and leadership accomplishments of students Friday (April 27) at the annual Student Awards Celebration.
Every spring, the campus community comes together – in a prelude to graduation – to present awards and prizes to more than 60 students and faculty. This year’s top awards, the Daniel J. and W.J.K. Snyder Prize, given to a male and female student in the graduating class judged by the faculty to have excelled during their four years at Heidelberg College in leadership, character and scholarship, were presented by President Robert H. Huntington to Krista Mizenko and Cory Martinson.
During the celebration, the students also presented the Faculty Member of the Year Award to Dr. Courtney DeMayo, assistant professor of history.
Graduating senior Nicholas Dyer was selected to give the address during the celebration. He titled his remarks “Congratulations and Beyond.”
The Heidelberg Jazz Combo, under the direction of Scott Kretzer, provided musical entertainment. The ceremony concluded with the traditional singing of Heidelberg’s Alma Mater, “Sweet Alma Home.”
