Mar 14, 2014

Heidelberg University will welcome Cheryl Krueger, the founder and former president and CEO of Cheryl & Co., a cookie, gourmet dessert and gift basket retailer, as the spring keynote speaker in The Patricia Adams Lecture Series next month.

Krueger, a native of Bellevue, will be on campus Thursday, April 10, to present a series of formal and informal sessions with students, leading up to her keynote address and dinner that evening.

In 1981, Krueger founded Cheryl & Co. in Columbus with a single cookie store. When she sold the business in 2005, she had grown the operation into a $50 million corporation. Several years ago, she founded KRUEGER+CO. Consulting Inc. and serves as its CEO. The firm’s primary focus is to help companies develop creative marketing and sales strategies as well as evaluate product development pipelines, operations, logistics and financial performance.

Community service and philanthropy has been a significant part of Krueger’s life and career. She currently serves on the board of Bob Evans Farms Inc. and was appointed in 2012 to The Ohio State University Board of Trustees. She also served on the board of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute as its past president and was recently appointed to OSU’s Medical Center board.

Following her induction into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame, Krueger was named the top female entrepreneur of the year by Working Women Magazine, among many other awards. She has inspired a number of non-profit partnerships between private businesses and public schools, scholarship programs military support programs and area food banks.

Krueger graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and home economics.

Her keynote address and dinner on April 10 are open to the public. The event begins with a reception at 5:45 p.m., followed by dinner and the presentation at 6:30 in Seiberling Gymnasium. Cost is $30 per person. The deadline to RSVP is April 7. For additional information or to make reservations, visit

The Patricia Adams Lecture Series, currently in its fourth year, was created by The John and Patricia Adams Foundation to bring to campus exceptional female leaders from a broad spectrum of personal and professional backgrounds.

Through the series, Heidelberg students are exposed to outstanding female executives who have had a significant impact in their careers and communities. Each of the guests has opportunities to interact with students in formal and informal settings, and their visit culminates in a keynote address. While the lecture series emanates from the Heidelberg School of Business, it touches every discipline and has expanded to include prospective students and the broader local community.
