April 30 View from 50 yard lineConstruction is now in full swing on the core components of the new Hoernemann Stadium and The Fox Den Alumni Center. The visible sections are primarily below ground level.

According to Rod Morrison, associate vice president for engineering and facilities, all of the support walls for the interior spaces are poured, including the walls for the spacious wrestling room at the front.

Looking toward Greenfield Street from the 50-yard line of the football field, the permanent bleachers are starting to take shape with the caissons to support them already in place. The new bleachers will span from the 20-yard line to 20-yard line.

The top of the bleachers will be level with the plaza. Fans can enter through the plaza and walk down to field level or enter the field through a walkway that will connect Saurwein Health & Wellness Center and the stadium.

The facility will start to take shape more visibly in several weeks when walls are poured and the bleachers are installed, Rod said.

Although the harsh winter delayed construction, plans call for the stadium and alumni center to be completed in time for the first home football game in Sept.
