Sweet Alma Home

Alumni representing several decades returned to campus the weekend of Oct. 5-7 to celebrate their years at Heidelberg and reconnect with old friends. The weekend began on a high note with the presentation of the Young Alumni Achievement Award to Daniel Meyers, ’92, whose career focuses on utilizing technology in the teaching of foreign languages.

Out of the gate and kicking off Saturday’s activities were a group of runners who participated in the first 5K race (check here for race results). Activity shifted to Frost-Kalnow Stadium, where the family-friendly carnival took place prior to kickoff of the Student Princes’ clash against Baldwin-Wallace. Alumni – including members of the ’72 Stagg Bowl Championship team and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees – were on hand at the game.

At halftime, James Poynter and Kristina Bryant were crowned homecoming king and queen. The game provided plenty of excitement and an upset of 17th-ranked B-W, the first time in 18 years the Student Princes beat the Yellow Jackets.

Reunion classes of ’92, ’97 and ’02 gathered for social time and reminiscing, and no doubt, celebration of the football victory.

A meeting of the Alumni Council on Sunday, as well as the annual Music Faculty Gala, concluded a very successful weekend.
