50-year partnership of food & friendship

In the business world, a 50-year partnership between two companies is a rare and special thing. On Thursday, Heidelberg College and ARAMARK, the college’s food service provider, celebrated just such a partnership – and friendship.

To kick off its 50th anniversary celebration, ARAMARK hosted a reception for the campus community, during which President Dottavio announced that Miller Small Dining Room, frequently used for special events and meetings, is being named the ARAMARK Room, in honor of the long-standing partnership.

ARAMARK partners with about 500 colleges and universities to provide food and support services. Among those clients, Heidelberg’s association with ARAMARK is the fourth oldest in the country, said Dennis Schultice, food service director at Heidelberg.

He praised that same longevity among the staff – a group of committed individuals who work behind the scenes. “They know their jobs well, and they know what our standards are. We have very little to no turnover,” he said.

President Dottavio praised the staff’s creativity for making special events truly special. Included among those are community events for which ARAMARK goes the extra mile. “The community sees the quality of the food and the service, and this is very positive for the college,” he said. He added Heidelberg students – ARAMARK’s primary customers – very much appreciate their efforts to provide menu variety in a comfortable, clean atmosphere on a daily basis.
