Heidelberg Ranks Amongst Nation's Elite

The Heidelberg College wrestling team, under the leadership of Jason Miller, has not only been having a standout season, but has also caught the attention of the national wrestling scene. They are ranked fourth in the nation for the third time this season according to the Brute-ADIDAS National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll released on Dec. 4. The poll is sponsored by Brute and the National Wrestling Coaches Association, and determined by a committee of Division III college coaches

Also ranked are five members of Heidelberg’s starting line-up. 2006 National Champion and 2007 National qualifier Joe Pflug (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights) is highest on the team with a second place ranking at 157-pounds. 197-pounder Ryan Fogliano (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights) and heavy-weight Robbie Brubeck (Findlay, Ohio / Findlay) both stand at fifth in their weight-classes. Meanwhile at 141 and 165, two-time national qualifier Nick Sanchez (Lima, Ohio / Bath) and Aaron Jonhenry (Berea, Ohio / Berea) stand at seventh and ninth respectively.

This Friday, Dec. 7, no. 4 Heidelberg will be facing off against no. 15 Olivet College. With the Comets also having three of its wrestlers ranked, the match is looking to be quite the battle. Wrestling is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
