Easing the stress of finals
With the stress of final exams prevailing among students on campus, the Berg Events Council offered a reprieve from the mounds of piled-up work in the form of iced cinnamon buns. As is tradition at Heidelberg, the biannual Late Night Breakfast was held Sunday evening, the eve of finals week.
The line wrapped through the hallway in front of Hoernemann Refectory, beyond the doors to Miller Residence Hall, and down past the elevator in Williard Residence Hall, a half hour before the dining hall doors were scheduled to open. Books and papers were strewn about as last-minute cram sessions continued amid the lingering smell of bacon.
When the doors finally burst open at 10 p.m., students rushed in to find school administrators waiting to serve their meal. Among them were Dean of Students Jim Troha, VP for Administration Jeannine Curns and President and Mrs. Dottavio, who manned the hot food line for the night, filling up plates for the anxious and weary students.
“I look forward to this every semester,” commented senior Lindsey Wiseman, “You study so hard in this last week, this event really does give students that five minutes they need to relax and get their minds off all that work.”
In addition, Stoner Health Center brought in a licensed massage therapist Tuesday to help students relax and release tension in a free chair massage. Co-sponsors were Student Senate and Psi Chi.
