Heidelberg highly ranked by U.S.News -- again

Heidelberg College has again received high marks among its peers in U.S.News & World Report magazine’s national survey, confirmation that the college continues to provide a quality education to its students.

This year marks the 21st consecutive year that Heidelberg has been ranked in the top tier in the “Best Universities – Master’s” category in the Midwest region. U.S. News uses a set of nine indicators to rank the best colleges and universities, including peer assessment, retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduate rate and alumni giving.

Across the board, these factors are an excellent indication that the college is living up to its mission to be a student-centered institution that prepares students for lifelong success, not only professionally but personally, said Interim President Dr. James A. Troha.

“Our consistent appearance on the rankings is a strong reflection of the college’s commitment to student success, Everyone at Heidelberg works hard to provide our students with the type of quality experience that has earned the respect of our peer institutions,” he said.

“We are motivated by our responsibility to provide a quality academic experience and a personally enriching experience for each of our students from the moment they arrive on campus.”

The rankings are “great news” for Heidelberg, which is on the verge of welcoming its largest incoming class of new students in the institution’s history, said Thandabantu Maceo, vice president for Enrollment and Marketing.

“The rankings reinforce a commitment on behalf of the entire Heidelberg community to uphold our high standards to provide a quality education that is a great value for today’s families,” Maceo said.

Families consider many criteria when choosing a college – including cost, financial aid, curriculum, feel of campus life and geographic location – the rankings are an excellent tool to help narrow a search, he added.
The 572 colleges and universities in the “Best Universities – Master’s category are ranked within four geographic regions, and then divided into tiers. Heidelberg appears in the top tier in the Midwest.
