Interim president replaced -- for today
Step aside, Interim President Troha. You’ve been replaced – at least for today. As the winner of the President for a Day contest, junior Emily Dages

traded places with the president today. One day next week, he’ll assume her schedule to complete the swap.Emily’s day is filled with meetings on campus and in the community, presentations, lunch with local and college dignitaries. During a short window of “down time,” she’ll be fielding phone calls and assuming other duties the president would encounter in a typical day.
The intent behind President for a Day was to identify a student with leadership potential and provide a meaningful experience for them. “I thought this event would provide students a unique opportunity to thing about how they might be able to make a difference in their campus community,” Troha said. “I think students, whether they are president or not, can do a lot here to make their experience a better one. But it does take some courage to step forward and this is a chance to do just that.”
Emily, a junior music and political science major, was selected based on an essay she wrote in response to the question, “If I was president for a day, I would …” The event is co-sponsored by Student Senate, the President’s Office and the Office of Communication & Marketing.Posted on Oct. 9, 2008
