'DJs for a Cause' cause Christmas cheer
In passing by the mailboxes on their way to Rock Creek Café on Thursday, students could feel – and hear – the holiday spirit. DJs for a Cause, a group of student DJs who staff WHEI 88.9-FM, moved from the third floor of Founders Hall to the high-traffic area
in Campus Center to entertain listeners and support a cause.

Contributors to the cause had the opportunity to be entered into raffles and win prizes of goods, which were donated by several local businesses.
This was the second year for DJs for a Cause. Junior DJ and one of the event organizers, Jeff Meyers, Jr. said, “It was really successful last year, and just a lot of fun for us … the more fun I’m having, the more successful this whole thing feels to me.”
Last year’s event raised $200, and this year’s crew was hoping to surpass that. They were confident that their goal was possible, as they said a steady amount of people had already stopped by before the anticipated evening rush, and campus organizations were donating in large amounts.
“[This event] gets us out of the studio and we get to broadcast live which we don’t always get to do,” co-organizer and DJ, Josh Hohman commented. “We’re hoping to build the community by giving back to it. This is something different. We’re up in numbers this year, and so we want to showcase that and keep it going.”
Both Josh and Jeff expressed sincere gratitude for all of the people who contributed to make the event possible.
