Become a Senator

So you're interested in becoming a Student Senator? Well, what are you waiting for? Here's what you need to do:

Freshmen

If you are a freshmen at Heidelberg University, you can petition to join Student Senate at the beginning of the academic school year. Stop by the Office of the Dean of Students in Campus Center 328 to pick up your petition. You will be required to gather 25 signatures from your Freshmen class endorsing your petition.

Additionally, you will need to compose a statement supporting your candidacy. Briefly state why you are running for the position. You may want to include your qualifications and experience, purpose and goals, or reasons why you think you should be elected. This statement is to be typed and should be submitted electronically to the Dean of Students (dbrentli). The statement will be posted during elections.

When you have gathered all 25 signatures endorsing your candidacy, turn the document back into the Office of the Dean of Students. At that time, a picture of you will be taken to be used during the elections. Campaigning is allowed; just make sure to adhere to the University's posting guidelines.
