Family Member Sample Schedule
Because we value close interaction, each family will receive an individual schedule when they arrive for Orientation. The schedule below serves to help you understand what sessions you will be attending, but they may not be in this order.
Day I
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM Registration and Move in
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM Welcome Session
All students and parents will gather in the Great Hall to meet the current faculty, staff and students participating in this Orientation session.
2:40 PM – 3:20 PM Assuming Responsibility at the Berg
Learn about how the Berg teaches student responsibility and accountability through an effective student conduct model.
3:20 PM – 3:40 PM Cool Treats Break
Enjoy a cool treat and meet other family members attending this orientation session.
3:40 PM – 4:20 PM Nuts & Bolts of Residence Life
Find answers to your questions related to your student’s residence hall living, their adjustments to a roommate, and what they can and can’t bring to college.
4:30 PM – 5:10 PM From Cradle to Campus
Sending your child off to college is a difficult thing to do. This session will offer support, advice, encouragement, and help answer any transitional questions that you may have about “letting go”.
5:20 PM – 6:00 PM Navigating Changing Technology
CNIT, The Computer Network, and Information Technology department will share information about connecting to the campus network and the resources available to students.
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM Dinner at Presidents House
Enjoy Dinner with President Dominic Dottavio and his wife Dr. Lisette Dottavio, as they will be open their home for a wonderful meal for students and their families.
Day II
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM Breakfast
9:00 AM – 9:40 AM Working with Academic Records
This session will explain topics including fall class schedules, on-line academic records, academic calendar, transfer credit, enrollment verification, and FERPA.
9:50 AM – 10:30 AM Academic Expectations
A faculty representative will address the academic expectations of new students. Become familiar with Heidelberg’s General Education curriculum and the philosophy behind a liberal arts education.
10:30 AM - 10:50 AM Campus Coffee Break
Meet the entire college community as we all take a break to meet and welcome our new community members to their home for the next for years.
10:50 AM – 11:30 AM Paying the Bill
Learn about Heidelberg’s tuition payment plans as well as loan options available to students and parents to help pay the bill. General information about our billing process will also be reviewed.
11:40 AM – 12:30 PM Getting to Know the Health Center
Nursing and counseling staff members will provide a general description of the healthcare facility including location, hours of operation, staffing, medical requirements, etc.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Lunch
1:40 PM – 2:10 PM Points of Interest
Members of various offices will be available to answer any last minute or unanswered questions.
2:10 PM – 2:30 PM Dean's Farewell
Parents will be completing final paperwork before leaving for home.
2:40 PM – 3:00 PM Check out of Residence Halls
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Athletic Orientation
Student athletes should plan to meet with members of the athletic department to discuss being a student athlete at the berg.
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Honors Program Open House
Students interested in the honors program should plan to visit the honors house to meet the directors of the program.
