Finals Week and Checkout Procedures
To prepare for final exams, 24-hour quiet hours will be instituted the Wednesday prior to exams starting at 9:30 pm. Unless they are participating in commencement or living in summer housing, students are expected to checkout of their residence hall within 24 hours of their last final exam, or by Wednesday, May 7 by 4:30 pm, whichever comes first. Students participating in commencement should check out of their room by 9:00 pm on Sunday, May 11, 2014. Sign-up sheets for checkout times will be available in each residence hall. Please ask your RA or RC if you cannot find where to sign up. To avoid improper checkout fees, students should schedule a time at least 24 hours in advance.
In addition, please make sure to do the following:
- Remove all items from your room
- Have your ID and key with you
- Unbunk/unloft beds, open all drawers and close and lock all windows
- Sign your Room Condition Report
- Leave keys with the staff member checking you out
Your RA will conduct an inspection with you to determine whether initial charges will be assessed for damages. However, charges are not final until after the Campus Life and Krammes Service Center staff conduct a final inspection after buildings close.
Limited storage is available in Miller Hall for out-of-state and international students only. Items must be stored in a storage tote, which must be rented from the university. The cost is $5 to rent a small tote, and $10 to rent a large tote. Students must complete a Summer Storage Inventory to describe the contents of each tote rented.
The following items will not be stored:
- Large furniture and large appliances
- Other items too large to fit inside a storage tote
- Items packed in boxes, bags, or in anything other than a rented storage tote
Storage totes and Summer Storage Inventory forms will be available starting Monday, May 5 at the Miller Hall duty office during duty hours. These hours are 8 pm - 9 pm on weekdays, and from 10 pm - 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. Contact the Miller Hall RC at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
