Heidelberg Leadership Academy
The Heidelberg Leadership Academy (HLA) was originally orchestrated in 2004 to provide Heidelberg students the opportunity to develop personal and professional goals. HLA aims at enabling and empowering students to develop and apply leadership and career skills that include time management, organizational development, personal development and planning.
You will interact with established leaders on campus and in the community throughout the 4-year plan. All four years of the HLA combine to provide myriad opportunities for students to reach the goals identified in Heidelberg College’s mission. Specifically, the four foci help students achieve the following institutional goals:
- Demonstrating the breadth of knowledge and creative and critical thinking skills to fully participate as citizens of the changing world
- Synthesizing theory, knowledge and experience related to their majors
- Demonstrating the writing and speaking skills to communicate effectively within their disciplines
- Demonstrating the quantitative and problem-solving skills sufficient for their disciplines and for functioning in an increasingly technical society
- Demonstrating an awareness of their own cultures and a sensitivity to and appreciation of other cultures
- Valuing the quest for purpose, integrity, and spiritual growth
- Demonstrating an engagement with Heidelberg College and the local community, as well as with the nation and the world
