About me. . . hmm. . . always hated that topic. 

I'm just a normal English professor with some quirky interests.  You can get a sense of some of them on the Oddities pages on this site. 

I grew up the son of a United Methodist minister, and that probably colored my outlook on the world--but so did reading, sports and the rest of life. 

I teach at Heidelberg College, a small liberal arts college in northwestern Ohio.  My immediate family includes my wife, Sandy, and my two sons, Ben and Tommy.  Ben is headed off to Earlham College this year!
