“The Great Class of 1970”
Alumni Engagement/Admission Liaison
Why Heidelberg?
I came here because of the United Church of Christ affiliation. Growing up, I attended a UCC church in suburban Toledo, Ohio. I was able to come to Heidelberg to be a part of the blossoming wrestling program. The campus and school size was just right for me.
Return to The Berg
In 2010, I was asked by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to come on board part time. The description of the job was to talk to parents, recruits and high school guidance counselors. Having been a high school teacher for 31 years, what else was new? I had been active with the Alumni Council since 2001 so it was easy to say yes to continuing to work with the Alumni Office and Admission Office.
Alumni Engagement
Being able to work with our alumni truly is fun. Seeing them come back to campus at any time or at an event around the state and country is wonderful. We are family no matter when we graduated, whether last year or 1935.
Old and New
To me the best part of campus was the Tin Gym back in the day. Today I like the new Berg Bistro 1850 and Hoernemann (Refectory) too. Plus the grounds all over campus make The Berg very beautiful.
Greek Life Advisor
As a Sig advisor along with Dr. Traci Stark, it allows us to see young men grow in leadership and academic achievement. Being a part of such a SIGnificant group and being able to mentor them through their college years, to understand the importance of academics and brotherhood that lasts a lifetime … it’s been challenging and yet very rewarding.
