I chose Heidelberg because I was extremely interested in the National Center for Water Quality Research and impressed by the environmental science program.
I majored in Environmental Science and Biology because I want to preserve Earth's natural resources and wildlife for future generations.
A major challenge I encountered while at Heidelberg was taking classes outside of my comfort zone and I handled it by forming friendships outside of my majors.
Above all, Heidelberg prepared me to analyze scientific research and conduct my own research.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Tri-Beta, Track, and Cross Country.
My favorite extracurricular activity was cross country because it taught me to endure hardship and allowed me to spend hours with my friends enjoying the outdoors.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my ‘Berg experience is Dr. Nathan Manning because he went above and beyond to answer questions about my Honors research project, creating scientific resumes, and being a great professor.
My advice to new freshmen would be enjoy the moment with your friends, but after you get your homework done.
My favorite Heidelberg memory is jumping in Rock Creek with the cross country team after a hard workout.
My plans after graduation are to pursue a career in water quality or wildlife management and restoration.
