I chose Heidelberg because it was the only school that allowed me to pursue both a degree in theatre and (pre)medicine while playing college soccer at the time.
I majored in Biology and Musical Theatre because I had such an intense passion for both and didn’t want to have to choose. They both provide me with so much joy and purpose.
A major challenge I encountered while at Heidelberg was finding time to complete both of my majors in 4 years and I handled it by doubling up on credit hours and preserving on hard and busy days.
Above all, Heidelberg prepared me to be a well-rounded human being, both in my career and in my personal life.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in theater performances, a sorority (Kappa Psi Omega), a fraternity (Sigma Tau Nu), the theater honorary (Alpha Psi Omega), Berg Body Positivity Association and the Women’s Soccer Team (freshman year)
My favorite extra-curricular activity was performing in Gundlach Theater because I was able to pursue my dream and practice my craft while being surrounded by the most incredible people every day.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my ‘Berg experience is Carol Dusdieker because she was always my biggest advocate in times where I couldn’t advocate for myself. She was a constant support system and helped me develop into the singer I am today.
My advice to new freshmen would be to do anything and everything. The only person stopping you is you.
My favorite Heidelberg memory is playing Doralee Rhodes in Heidelberg Theater’s production of 9 to 5.
My plans after graduation are to pursue theater wherever that takes me.
