I chose Heidelberg because it felt like home. When I walked onto the campus the first time for my individual tour everyone was super friendly and they made sure I was welcomed.
I majored in Primary Education with an endorsement of ISP because I wanted to help children understand that school is important and they will never feel like they can’t do something.
A major challenge I encountered while at Heidelberg was the essays and the test within the classroom. I was able to overcome these challenges by studying, asking questions, asking for extra help from my professors and using the Owen Center for study help.
Above all, Heidelberg prepared me to have my future classroom and teach future students.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in cheerleading, HUTCM (Math Camp), PACE, Student Engagement and Student Ambassador.
My favorite extracurricular activity was Cheerleading because it is where I met new people including my friends I will have for a lifetime.
Faculty or staff members or advisors who impacted my Berg experience are Paul Stark and Dr. Stacey Pistorova because they have helped me become a better student and a better person. They have both helped me in and out of the classroom. They both have given me experiences that have helped improve me for the future in my own classroom and in my community.
My advice to freshmen coming into the new school year is to have fun and remember to study. College is a time to figure out who you are. Work hard and study but have fun with your school years because the next four years will fly by.
My advice to freshman me would be to have fun and work hard. The next four years will be difficult but once you put your mind to it, nothing is impossible. Remember that your goal is to have your own classroom so work for it.
My favorite Heidelberg memory is all the bonding we did as a cheer team, from watching movies and eating popcorn to water balloon fights on the track, and having secret Santa with a movie and game night.
My plans after graduation are to teach in my own classroom in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I plan to get my Master’s in Early Childhood Education within the next few years.
