In 2010, Mr. Don Behm, Class of 1951, a direct participant in the liberation of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp at the close of World War II, and Holocaust survivor Mr. Jimmy Lichtman spoke to Heidelberg’s campus. This program triggered the establishment of the Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series to remember and honor the survivors and the liberators, not only of the Holocaust but of all incidents of genocide and has featured a speaker each year.
On February 23, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. we invite you for the Ten-Year Anniversary Celebration, an inspiring evening of virtual storytelling and art to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series. Sadly, Don Behm and Jimmy Lichtman, founders of this Series died during the past ten years. Our memory of them continues to guide us to educate others of genocide and actions we can take to prevent genocide in the future. In our Anniversary Celebration, members of their families will be featured speakers as well as members of the Lecture Series Committee, previous keynote speakers, and Heidelberg University alumni whose lives have been impacted by this annual experience. It will pay homage to the past and build excitement for the future. Please join us for this virtual event by registering here.
