Full Commencement Day Schedule
9:15 AM Student Line-up
Master’s degree candidates will line up in front of the Bryenton Center for Honors; Bachelor’s degree candidates will line up on the first floor of University Hall, and Faculty members will line up in front of Pfleiderer Hall. Each candidate will take the position assigned at rehearsal. In case of inclement weather, the assembly for students will be held in the Saurwein Health & Wellness Center.
10:00 AM Commencement Ceremony for Graduates and Undergraduates

If in Seiberling Gymnasium, special seating ticket holders will be admitted at 9:15 AM. Doors will open for general admission at 9:30 AM. Special seating will be held until 9:45 AM.
12:00 - 2:00 PM Commencement Brunch
Complimentary for all graduates, their families and friends. No reservations are necessary. Berg Bistro 1850 will also be open from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
Ceremony video stream
A live video stream of the ceremony will be available via BoxCast. The video feed will be available approximately 20 minutes prior to the event.
Cap, gown and hood are to be picked up at the Bookstore, 419-448-2012, during regular hours on or after April 10. Candidates will keep the cap, gown and hood.
Attire is cap, gown and hood. Academic gowns are intended to be worn full length and should not be shortened by hemming, basting, etc. Approved medals and cords may be worn.

Parking is available in Lots B, C, E, F, G and J.
Greenfield Street and Rebecca Street will be closed from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM for the academic procession. Guests with health concerns or in a wheelchair should be driven to the small parking lot next to Hoernemann Stadium. A student ambassador will escort the person into the stadium.
Keith Hodkinson will be present to take a picture at the moment the diploma is presented to each graduate. Please return the form to the photographer.

As a security precaution, the following items are prohibited: alcoholic beverages, coolers, backpacks, large handbags, metal folding seat cushions, seats that clamp to bleachers, noise making devices, mace or similar substances, signs, sticks, poles, and weapons of any kind. Guests are subject to visual inspection of person, bags, and clothing capable of concealing prohibited items.
Special Seating Requests
Special seating at Commencement for those with health concerns:
If there is a family member, because of health reasons, cannot sit in the bleachers of Hoernemann Stadium or Seiberling Gymnasium, candidates are to notify Ms. Barb Gabel with the individual’s name by emailing email@example.com. There will be a seat reserved for this person and one escort in the special seating section. It is the responsibility of the graduate to make this reservation by May 1.
In addition, if a guest requires the use of a wheelchair or scooter, space will be provided in the special seating area on the football field or gym floor for the wheelchair or scooter and one escort. It is the responsibility of the graduate to make this reservation by May 1, with Barb Gabel by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the ceremony is held in Seiberling Gymnasium because of inclement weather, guests with special seating tickets will be admitted to Seiberling Gymnasium at 9:15 AM. Doors will open for general seating at 9:30 AM, rain or shine.The special seating area will be held until 9:45 AM. At that time seats will be released for general seating.
Each candidate participating in the Commencement ceremony will receive 6 tickets. Commencement tickets may be picked up in the Business Office beginning May 1. All bills must be paid in full in order to receive Commencement tickets. If the ceremony is held in Hoernemann Stadium, tickets will not be necessary unless Special Seating is required. (Please see special seating instructions.) Guests may sit in the stadium, or may bring their own seating for the hill behind Saurwein Health & Wellness Center.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to Seiberling Gymnasium, and no one will be admitted to Commencement without a ticket. The Commencement ceremony will be live-streamed on the website, www.heidelberg.edu/commencement, and will also be video cast simultaneously in Frost Lecture Hall, located in Bareis Science Hall.
We are pleased to announce that many undergraduate students will be recognized for their academic achievements. Those eligible for honors but not participating in the Sunday ceremony will receive their medals in the mail. Summer graduates are not eligible to receive their academic honors medals commencement weekend but will do so when their requirements have been completed. Those eligible for honors must have completed 60 hours of letter-graded work at Heidelberg University.
