In January 2019 as a campus community, we will be celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with several events throughout the month.

2019 marks the 33rd year of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day being a nationally recognized holiday. We will kick off the celebration on Monday, Jan. 21, with a Day of Learning and Service. At 9 a.m., the campus community is invited to participate in the annual Community Drive or in the SMYL (Seneca Mentoring Youth Links) projects.

This year, we will also collect canned goods for the Salvation Army's food pantry and hygiene products to begin stocking the new Hygiene Closet in Stoner Health, Counseling and Disabilities Services Center for students in need. This will be followed by a themed lunch at 12 p.m., during which we will have the opportunity to learn about ways we can further Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's. legacy to support the Heidelberg community and beyond.

There are three ways to get involved:

1. Donate items and drop them off in the Student Engagement Office (Campus Center 306).

2. Donate money through the Heidelberg Marketplace.

3. Participate in the Day of Service and Learning by completing this sign-up form.

Stay tuned for more events to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
