The Patricia Adams Lecture Series
The purpose of the The Patricia Adams Lecture Series is to introduce Heidelberg students, twice annually, to talented and accomplished women who have had a significant impact in their community or career field. The series provides extraordinary opportunities for all Heidelberg students, as well as faculty and staff, and the broader Tiffin community to not just hear from, but meet, talk to and learn from the women in a variety of settings.
The Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series
In 2010, Heidelberg experienced a rare and poignant program when Don Behm, Class of 1951, a liberator of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp at the close of World War II, and Holocaust survivor Jimmy Lichtman shared their incredible stories after being reunited decades after the war. From that event, the Lichtman-Behm Genocide Lecture Series was established to remember and honor the survivors and the liberators, not only of the Holocaust but of all incidents of genocide. The purpose of the series is to bring to light the human tragedy of genocide for the campus, local/area school children and the community at large through special programming.
The Education Summit is designed to empower pre-service and in-service teachers with an opportunity to be engaged with leading educators in order to improve their own practices. It is critical for future teachers to recognize that they can shape their own teaching practices within the over tested and regulated teaching profession. The Education Summit aims to sow the seeds for reflective thinking, leading to action, within their own teaching.
The HYPE Program is more than a lecture series, but one component of the program is bringing big-name, big-time speakers to inspire you. On each of the six HYPE days during an academic year, a HYPE Speaker will expose you to inspiring stories of leadership, dedication, and success.
Beyond the lecture series, there are many other opportunities for you to meet with, talk to and even work side-by-side with professionals in your field. Through the Owen Center for Academic & Career Support, research centers housed on our campus and connections your professors will facilitate, our small size doesn't mean small opportunities.
